Based in San Francisco, Simrah Farrukh is an artist-photographer whose visual work centers on empowering underrepresented communities, particularly South Asians and Muslims, by reclaiming narratives and reshaping their representation across fashion, beauty, and art.

She came to the studio with a clear vision: to reimagine how her portfolio lived online. Our goal was to craft a distinctive digital experience that not only brings her visual work to the forefront but also reflects her personality and perspective. Just as importantly, the site needed to seamlessly merge her artistic and commercial projects into one cohesive visual world, bridging the personal and professional through a unified, expressive design.

The homepage is thoughtfully divided into two distinct sections: one for Simrah’s commissioned work, and one for her personal projects. As users navigate between the two, the inactive section gently blurs—an interaction inspired by the soft, textured, and dreamlike quality of Simrah’s visual language.

The commissioned section is presented as a click-through gallery, offering a curated preview of the diverse and contemporary portraiture she’s been hired to create. In contrast, the personal work section leans into narrative depth, with a dynamic vertical gallery that reflects the long-form storytelling inherent in these projects. Clicking into any project brings users to a more immersive gallery page—one designed to encourage deeper engagement and exploration.
